Being set on 10 acres there is room for you and your horse, so you can arrange a horse riding weekend to go horse back riding at Narrawong beach or perhaps go for a bush ride instead. Walking holidays in Australia are a popular and healthy activity. The South West of Victoria has perfect weather for walking. In fact, Portland (Victoria, Australia) Maritime Discovery and Visitor Information Centre is the start and end point for the 250km Great South West Walk . Portland and Narrawong to Port Fairy are also at the Western gateway to the Great Ocean Road.

Kanawinka Global Geopark

‘Booligal’ Country Retreat is situated within Australia’s first geopark, the Kanawinka Global Geopark. This geopark is located in both the South West of Victoria and the South East of South Australia. It is a geological area of great significance and was declared the 57th Global Geopark in June 2008.

Why is it geologically significant?

This area of Australia has a spectacular history of relatively young volcanoes. With over 50 geosites and covering 26,910 square kilometres the Kanawinka Global Geopark has a range of amazing geological features to view, including extinct volcanoes, tumuli, crater lakes, sink holes and caves. Narrawong is close to a number of geosites, namely Tyrendarra Lava Flow, Cape Bridgewater, Mount Richmond, Mount Eccles National Park, Tower Hill, Nigretta Falls and Wannon Falls. For further details on these geosites view the fact sheets.

‘Booligal’ Country Retreat is self catering accommodation set on a relaxing 10 acres of rolling countryside in coastal Narrawong. The Canadian Cedar cottage has 3 bedrooms, ideal for either a longer stay with friends or that romantic weekend for two. This holiday rental accommodation is dog friendly with a kennel provided for your pet, or if you would prefer to bring your horse you can have a holiday with your horse too!

Set on a hillside on the edge of Mt Clay State Forest ‘Booligal’ holiday house allows you to enjoy the peace and quiet in beautiful surroundings. There are koalas, kangaroos and many varieties of native birds. Activities include walks or BBQs in the bush and, for the more adventurous, mountain bike trails.

As well, ‘Booligal’ holiday house is only a 5 minute drive to Narrawong beach for swimming or surfing and the adjoining Surry River has a ramp for fishing boats (small craft only) or canoeing. A 10 minute drive will take you to a boat ramp for ocean fishing and a 15 minute drive to historic Portland on the Discovery Coast. At Portland you can learn about the aluminum industry on a tour through Australia’s largest aluminum smelter, visit local museums or ride the Portland Cable Tram.
